Patrick's changes

Patrick is growing like a weed and can do new things every day. He has rolled over once, does baby push-ups, can hold his head up, and smiles on a regular basis, especially at 6am.
Just waking up.

It seems that Patrick inherited Ryan's sleeping style.

This is Patrick's sleeping buddy. The otter is bigger than him right now! He sometimes reaches over and holds on to him. I also love this diaper with crazy monkeys on it.

I have tried to catch Patrick's smile on camera, and this is the best I can do so far. His smile makes everybody so happy!

More visitors!

In early July, my dear friend Shyre and her awesome husband John came to visit Port Angeles. Patrick loved to meet them as they are his Godparents! We had a great time, we can't wait to hang out with them again.

Shyre pouting with Patrick.

Ryan does lots of things with Patrick in his sling. Below he is making us all breakfast.

Family visit!

Ryan's parents, brother and sister-in-law came to visit us in late June. We had a great time showing them around the area. Luckily the weather was great. We even went on some hikes with Patrick. He loved meeting his family!
Patrick didn't want us to take this picture, but it gives a glimpse of his mad face. Grandma was trying to cheer him up!

Patrick really enjoyed sleeping on grandpa.

Here's grandma and Patrick!

Here is Patrick and Aunt Sarah after a good 6 hour hike.

This is me feeding Patrick on the hike. He slept a good part of the time and was a real angel! We will take him outside as much as possible, he likes it a lot.

Getting bigger!

Patrick has been growing very fast over the last couple of weeks. He is two months old now! He can hold his head up and graces us with a few smiles a day.
Dad gives him his baths most often, and Patrick loves it!
We decided to let Patrick's bum air out one day. He took the opportunity to pee on everything within range.
His favorite place to sleep is ON people. Example below:

He interacts a lot more now. He even waves! He really likes Ducky, his puppet, who keeps him company.
More cute expressions and poses with Ducky:

He likes to just kick back and relax at times:

Baby faces

Below are some pictures of Patrick making some pretty expressive faces:

Oohh.

Maybe I could give them a little smile.

Mom is boring me with this activity....

Enough with the pictures...

Patrick at home

A few pictures of Patrick's first week:
Sleeping in his pack and play. Mom and Patrick taking a little nap.
Kody, Patrick's guard dog, Lincoln, and Patrick in our living room. Our three babies. (Patrick is on a bouncy seat near the tv).

We go for a walk every afternoon. I don't think Patrick has actually seen much of the outdoors yet, as he falls right to sleep.

A Week Early!

Patrick Ryan Ross
7lbs, 9oz and 20.5 inches
Born: 5-6-09, 8:43 a.m.

We were in real labor for about 14 hours total. At 8 cm I got a little medication, but no epidural. Then we pushed for about 9 hours. In the last 20 minutes, the doctor decided we needed to use a vacuum to help him out (I think he also had to be turned a bit, he has wide shoulders). So, Patrick arrived with an amazing conehead that started to disappear immediately. I now understand how flexible babies heads can be!

Ryan was very hands on in the delivery room (we did not know this is coming, but I think he could be a professional midwife now). I cannot count how many people were involved (as the shift changed), but I know in the end they called in an extra nurse at the end. There were also two observers, a resident studying OB and a student nurse. Quite a crowd. The student nurse was awesome and took some pictures right after birth (there is no way I would have thought of that at that point!)

Ryan stepped up right away and is already the man to go to when Patrick needs calming down (or anything else). Patrick and I are very lucky to have him.

This is Patrick all set to go home. He likes having his hands up to his face, or as Ryan says, "Listening to his headphones."
